In summer, some people avoid outdoor activities because they dont want to get hot and sticky or sun burnt. Luckily, there are some outdoor activities which dont involve breaking sweat.

River rafting

Hot summer weather and cool waterwhat a perfect match! River rafting can be both scenic and exciting. When the raft follows a gentle stream, the views of the countryside or valley is like a traditional Chinese painting. And when you enter white water where the riverbed creates a natural roller coaster, you feel a rush of adrenaline(肾上腺素). Paddle your raft to the riverbank to have a picnic or barbecue which will taste best when you are starving.

Where to find: River rafting trips are usually on offer in mountainous or valley regions such as the Three Gorges.

Tips: Wear a helmet and life jacket at all times; bring enough sunscreens; and bring lots of water.

Caving

People say that the only naturally air- conditioned place in summer is a big cave. It is true. Cave tours featuring light shows are old hat. Now its time to wear a lamp on your helmet like a mineworker to explore caves in darkness. Exploring unknown cavers and navigating underground rivers is what makes caving so thrilling. Plus, caving can be a very healthy sport, for the oxygen level is usually higher so basically you are having an oxygen spa as the bonus.

Where to find: caving can be very risky, so consult local travel agents and go in groups with professional cavers.

Tips: Follow your guides; drink enough water to avoid dehydration(脱水); and wear strong and not easily damaged hiking boots.

Coastal walking/ cycling and beach activities

For those who live far away from mountains, coastal regions and beaches are good places to spend time in the summer. With sea breezes in your hair, it is nice to take a hike or cycle ride while enjoying the coastline. If you want to be sportier, try beach games, such as soccer and volleyball. Its a totally different experience from playing on hard courts or grass.

Where to find: Just go to the beach or find an urban artificial beach such as the one in Chaoyang Park in Beijing or the man-made lake beach in Wuhan.

Tips: Loads of sunscreen needed; water and snacks are necessary; be aware of jellyfish and garbage floating in the water.

More and more people come to realize that negative self talk and negative energy can affect in many ways and cause yoadditional stress. Because of this, developing more positive self talk is an important way to reduce stress in your life. You can help yourself maintain a positive frame of mind, which will help with positive self talk by surrounding yourself with positive energy in your life. You can get that by adding some elements to your life.

Listening to music that not only has a pleasant melody, but an uplifting message, can be great for developing positive self talk. Have you ever had a song “stuck in your head for a few hours or days, the lyrics repeating themselves in your mind? If those lyrics were positive and inspirational, that would be a good thing. Its a much better mental soundtrack to have than a running stream of complaints, criticisms of self-limiting thoughts, or even songs that had more depressing or sad lyrics.

Books on strength, personal power, enlightenment, or self help can be good resources to help you change your outlook and the things you say to yourself. Rather than bringing habitual self-defeating thoughts, you can find yourself thinking of new can- do concepts when times get tough.

One of the most important ways you can get and keep positive energy in your life is with the company you keep. Do your friends uplift you, or bring you down? Are they critical, or approving? Ideal friendships provide support when youre down, fun when you’re up, wisdom when youre lost. Good friends can inspire you to reach greater heights, and see your strengths even when you dont always. Pay attention to how your friends make you feel, and if theyre less than supportive, start putting your energy and time toward people who are better suited to be your friends.

In additionpositive affirmations(肯定) can certainly change your self talk from negative to positive. Now, why not begin working positive affirmations into your life in some creative ways?

65. What does the passage mainly talk about?

A. Adding some colorful elements to your life.

B. Changing your self talk with positive affirmations.

C. Getting positive energy from the company you keep.

D. Reducing stress by surrounding yourself with positive energy.

66. How many ways does the author suggest to maintain a positive frame of mind?

A. Three B. Four C. Five D. Six

67. If you have something stuck in your head, youll probably______________.

A. be developing positive self-talk

B. regard the lyrics of a song as positive

C. keep thinking of this thing all the time

D. keep singing the same song for a long time

68. According to the passage, your best company should be those who__________.

A. uplift you or bring you down

B. are supportive when youre depressed

C. provide fun when youre depressed

D. encourage you to do things better

69. What will probably be talked about in the following paragragh?

A. Some great ways of making great friends.

Teachers say the digital age has had a good influenceand a not- so- good influence- on this generation of American teenagers. More than 2,000 middle and high school teachers took an online survey. Researchers also spoke with teachers in focus groups.

Three-quarters of the teachers said the Internet and digital search tools have had a positive effect on their students research habits and skills. But 87 percent agreed that these technologies are creating an easily distracted generation with short attention spans. And 64 percent said the technologies “ do more to distract students than to help them academically. Many students think  doing research now means just doing a quick search on Google.

The Pew Internet Project did the survey with the College Board and the National Writing Project. Judy Buchanan is a deputy director of the National Writing Project and a co- author of the report. Ms. Buchanan says digital research tools are helping students learn more, and learn faster.  Teachers really embrace(信奉) these tools because they are ways to make some of learning and engaging. Young people embrace these tools. And the goal is to really help them become creators of content, and meaningful content, and not just sort of consumers.”

But one problem the survey found is that many students are lacking in digital literacy. In other words, they trust too much of the information they find on the Internet. Judy Buchanan says these students have not developed the skills they need to judge the quality of online information.

Its just a lot to learn about how to distinguish credible sources. And its something that really has to be taught and paid attention to. Its like everything else- in a world in which things can happen quickly, you really do need to have a way to step back, reflect and analyze the information you have. And teachers can do a lot to teach that.

Another problem the survey found is blamed on something that might not seem like a problem at all: being able to quickly find information online. Teachers say the result is a reduction in the desire and ability of their students to work hard to find answers. They say students do not make enough use of printed books or research librarians.

Many teachers are also concerned that the Internet makes it easy for students to copy work done by others instead of using their own abilities.

70. It can be inferred from the passage that students __________.

A. think they just do a quick search on Google

B. are overly dependent on search engines

C. are making the best of printed books or research librarians

D. haven’t developed the abilities to judge the quality of online information

71. Most teachers think the digital search tools_________.

A. Draw away students’ mind

B. Help students judge the information precisely

C. Make students more hardworking

D. Help students learn more and faster

72. According to the last two paragraphs, what is the teachers biggest worry?

A. Teachers might lose their teaching job.

B. Teachers couldnt do a lot to teach.

C. Students took too much time off to surf the Internet.

D. Students are ignoring resources around.

卷  (非选择题  共35分)

第四部分:写作(前两节,满分35分)

第一节:阅读表达(共5小题;每小题2分,共10分)

阅读下面短文,并根据短文后的要求答题(请注意问题后的字数要求)。

[1]An elderly carpenter was ready to retire. He told his employer of his plans to quit and live a more leisurely life with his family. He would miss the pay check, but he needed to retire. The employer was sorry to see his good worker go and asked if he could build just one more house as personal favor. The carpenter said yes, but in time it was easy to see that his heart was not in his work. He turned to shoddy(伪劣的)workmanship and used poor materials. It was an unfortunate way to end his career.

[2]When the carpenter finished his work and the builder came to inspect the house, the employer handed the front door key to carpenter. This is your house, he said, my gift to you. What a shock! What a shame! If he had only known he was building his own house, he would have done it all so differently. Now he had to live in the home he had built none too well.

[3]So it is with us. We build our lives in an inattentive way, reacting rather than acting, willing put up less than the best. At important points we do not give the job our best effort. Then with a shock we look at the situation we have created and find that we are now living in the house we have built. If we had realized that we would have done it differently.

[4]Think of yourself as the carpenter. Think about your house. Each day you hammer a nail, place a board or make a wall. Build wisely. It is the only life you will ever build. Even if you live it for day more, that day deserve to be lived graciously and with dignity.

[5]The plate on the wall says, life is a do-it-yourself project. Who could say it more clearly? Your life today is the result of your attitudes and choices in the past. Your life tomorrow will be the result of your attitudes and choices you make today.

76.Why didn’t the carpenter put his heart into work?(no more than 7 words)

_______________________________________________________________________________

77.According to Paragraph 2, how did the carpenter feel at his employers words?(one word)

_______________________________________________________________________________

78.How could the carpenter have done if he had known the house he built was his own?(no more than 6 words)

_______________________________________________________________________________

79.Whats the purpose of Paragraph 3?(no more than 12 words)

_______________________________________________________________________________

80.Whats the main idea of the passage?(no more than 4 words)

第二节  书面表达(满分25分)

One possible version:

In order to release pressure from study and get some relaxation, our class played a basketball match with Class 1 Senior 3 this afternoon.

The match turned out to be tough, exciting and friendly as well. Players from both classes were trying very hard to win with their fellow students cheering them up at the top of their voices outside the court. It was really a close match. Our class had a narrow win by 56-53 at last.

I don’t think we had better players in our team, but I do believe that it was the team work we paid special attention to that helped us win. We deserved the victory!

It doesn’t matter which class won. What really counts is the enjoyment the match itself brought us and awareness of the significance of team work it promoted in us.

听力原文

Text 1

W: What kind of sports do you like?

M: I like almost all sportsespecially skating and mountain climbing.

W: Cool! I like swimming and tennis.

Text 2

M: Hello. Whats the price of an airmail letter to the USA?

W: Thats twenty-four pence and its no difference in price whether its for the USA or anywhere else.

Text 3

W: Hey. Where are you?

M: In Changbei International Airport. My plane leaves in an hour.

W: What time do you expect to arrive?

M: Around 7 pm.

W: Ok. Ring me up when you arrive.

Text 4

W: Excuse me, sir. Do you have a change for a ten-dollar note? I need to pay the parking center.

M: Im sorry, but I think you can get it through the money changer in the shopping center across the street.

Text 5

W: Good morning, Jack. Youre here early.

M: Hey, Sally. I like to come in early. I can really get a lot of work done when its quiet.

W: Me too. Hey, we should carpool, you know, drive to work together to save some gas.

M: Hmm, great idea. Well save money, too!

Text 6

M: Hi! Carol!

W: Hi, Bill! This should be a great show. Let’s go in.

M: Sure. Did you bring my notebook?

W: Your notebook? Oh dear! I completely forgot.

M: You forgot? But you promised! I need it to study for the test. Oh, I knew I never should have asked you to do it.

W: Calm down, Bill. I just forgot. Look, after the show, we can drive by the house and pick it up.

M: It’s pretty far out of the way, but I guess we’ll have to.

W: Don’t worry. I’ll take you out to dinner tomorrow and make it up to you.

M: Well, OK.

Text 7

W: Hello, Mr. Wood. Where have you been these days?

M: Oh, I made a journey to some Asian countries, for example, China, India, Singapore and Indonesia.

W: Then you must have had a good time.

M: Of course. I especially enjoyed myself in China, for when I arrived there, China was celebrating the Spring Festival.

W: Does China celebrate the Spring Festival in a variety of ways?

M: You’re right. On a cold winter morning I went to the Longtan Temple Fair held in a city park with my family. I spent the day eating local foods, watching traditional performances and, most importantly, sharing happiness with my family members. During my stay in Hong Kong, I also visited the Hong Kong Disneyland. What a lot of people there were!

W: How I envy you!

M: I am sure you will one day take the same journey.

W: Yes, I’m looking forward to that.

Text 8

M: Hi, Cindy. I’ve got two tickets for the new modern art exhibit downtown. Do you want to go with me? I know you have finished your final paper.

W: But I don’t know anything about modern art, and I’m no artist.

M: You don’t have to be an artist to enjoy a good art show! Besides, at least it’s something different from studying.

W: You’re right. Have you seen this exhibit yet?

M: No, but I’ve heard that it’s great. The exhibit was in New York last summer and in Chicago after that. And next week it will go to San Francisco.

W: Oh. Well, it ought to be good then.

M: And, besides, next door to the modern art museum is a new Asian art museum. So we could hit both of them if you’re up for it.

W: OK. You’ve talked me into it. Do you want to go this afternoon?

M: If you have time. I’m ready.

W: OK. Let’s meet after lunch. I’m starving now. I’ve got to go back home first.

Text 9

M: Can you tell me how to get to the Music Building from here? I have a lecture to attend there.

W: Oh, are you new here?

M: Yes, I just got here last night.

W: Well, to go to the Music Building, you have two choices. If you want to go right now, you can walk straight down this street until you’re past a post office, and then turn right. The Music Building will be straight ahead.

M: How long will it take to get there?

W: About twenty minutes.

M: What’s my other choice?

W: If you don’t mind waiting around for a while, you can take the shuttle bus. The bus only takes about five minutes to get there.

M: But I have to wait for the bus?

W: That’s right.

M: Well, I guess I might as well walk.
